since aveda’s founding in 1978, our mission has been to care for the world and all who live in it. access to clean water changes the lives of individuals, their communities and, in turn, the world.
since 1999, every april, aveda salons/spas, institutes, and experience centers have come together during earth month to raise awareness and funds for clean water. together, we have raised over $69M to provide clean water globally and protect clean water locally

naturally derived

ingredients harvested worldwide

naturally derived, which we define to be those for which more than 50% of the molecule comes a plant, non-petroleum mineral, water, or some other natural source. aveda has established Soil to Bottle™ traceability for certain key ingredients, which allows aveda to progressively document and expand the source of these ingredients while promoting quality through its supply chain. aveda develops close working partnerships with certain communities and/or suppliers and seeks to use them as our primary source for specific ingredients.
